The Book of Zechariah - part II - The Messiah

THE BOOK OF ZECHARIAH - PART II - THE MESSIAH
There are 4 major prophesies in the Book of Zechariah, which Christians see as predictions about the arrival of the Messiah Jesus Christ. The second story is built around these 4 prophesies, while telling an episode of the life of Christ - His betrayal.

This time the focus is on the human being as an individual. We are part of the history and yet, we are given one opportunity, according to the Christian and Judaism religions’ afterlife paradigm. Time is seen as a single line, chain of events starting with birth and with death at the end. Christianity sets the doctrine that Salvation (the deliverance of the soul from death or bad consequences) is granted only to an individual, following his repentance and confession that Jesus is God. The concept, that it takes a personal decision in order to re-connect with God, is demonstrated in the Second coming of Christ’ story, where “Two men will be working in the field—one will be taken, one left behind” (Matt. 24:40, MSG version).

The second story also takes place in settings, featuring contemporary (or some time in the future) scenery. The accusation of a strong, contradictory and revolutionary figure, such as Jesus Christ, is shown as possible anytime and anywhere, when politics, religion, tradition and revolution collide.

The story of the Christ has a great historical impact, introducing to the world a new religion, the one, where the Messiah has arrived. The narrative of this second storyline, where deconstruction of time focuses on a single event of a great importance, reads the Book of Zechariah from the perspective of the XXI century man, a century, where technologies and self-centered life philosophy pave the way to the individualism as a core value.
